Singapore never ceases to amaze me with its advancements in technology. Food courts that are known for local, authentic food are embracing automation as well!
At one of the largest food court chains in the country, Kopitiam, payments are made using a cash machine. It’s an interesting concept, now that the cashiers are basically machines. The human touch hasn’t completely disappeared though. Unlike supermarkets, the orders are placed at the counter with staff, and the stall holders key orders into the system to be processed for payments.
Who knows, the staff could be robots in the future! With robot cafes and restaurants being a trend, food courts could be the next target.
