Wonderful Nachos at Guzman y Gomez

Guzman y Gomez is one of the most popular fast food chains in Australia. It brings back memories of seeing long queues of hungry customers who were eager to get their hands on some good quality, fast Mexican comfort food. And not to mention that it tastes amazing too with satisfying portion sizes! I reckon that the easiest description of Guzman y Gomez is that it specializes in Mexican fast food, with an Aussie touch.

So, when I first realized that this Aussie favorite has reached the shores of Singapore, I just had to visit to compare the experience to the ones I’ve had in Brisbane. And so, I made my way to the Guzman y Gomez outlet at Northpoint City.

While this particular outlet somewhat resembles the neighboring fast food joints, it has a soul of its own just like its outlets back in Australia – but with its own spin. The chairs, in its signature bright yellow color accompany the ‘concreate’/rendered-looking tables to emulate a somewhat industrial look.

The standout area is the long table donned with Mexican Talavera tiles. These pretty tiles match my nachos’ palate of color and looking back at the pictures, I just love the vibrancy exuded from these tiles and my bowl of delicious nachos. I had a blast taking photos!

From my conversation with the friendly cashier while I placed my order, I learnt that Guzman y Gomez’s most famous item in the nachos, and these nachos were absolutely delightful to eat.

The crunchy tortilla chips with all those toppings were simply a treat to my eyes, taste buds and stomach. Topped with black beans, a scoop of guacamole, tomato salsa, melted cheese, some sauce and juicy chunks of spicy grilled chicken, the nachos was a mountain of delight. I especially loved how all the flavors worked together as a combination, and how they’re all delicious on their own as well. It’s a fiesta of flavors!

Apart from the food, the staff are very friendly as well. While I was having a conversation about the nachos with the cashier, I felt like I was back in Brisbane. From the vibe to the friendly and warm culture, it was a wonderful experience and I’m looking forward to visiting Guzman y Gomez in Singapore again.
